Brendan takes helm at Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce

After being a member of the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee for the past 8+ years, GW Partner Brendan Bathersby was recently elected as President and is now keen to continue to grow the Chamber membership and ensure that it meets the demands and expectations of businesses in Maroochydore and the greater Sunshine Coast region.

Brendan said he’s looking forward to working with the fantastic group of new Executive Committee members who are all passionate about providing an environment that is conducive to business growth for the Chamber’s members and the broader Maroochydore region.

“The Chamber Committee and I have seen investment in major infrastructure projects across the region produce a significant rise in business confidence over the past year”.

“A good indicator of whether business is buzzing in a city is the number of cranes on the skyline and, if you look at Maroochydore at the moment, there is a fair bit going on,” he says.

“Down on ground level, there is also a good vibe because of the major landmark projects underway that will transform this region into a vibrant commercial hub.”

Brendan says the new Maroochydore City Centre, the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport, the subsea broadband cable and the promise of passenger and light rail options are piquing interest in the region amongst Queensland’s corporate circles.

“Maroochydore is seen as an exciting place, where great things are happening, where the local Council is engaged and where the business community is innovative and dynamic” he adds.

“The creation of a new CBD is critical for the growth of the region because it gives the Sunshine Coast a commercial focus and, after years of planning and foundation works, we are seeing the new city centre come out of the ground.”
