New labour hire laws – do I need a labour licence?
Queensland, South Australia and Victoria have introduced new labour hire laws imposing licensing requirements and reporting obligations on many businesses. In Queensland, the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2017 (Qld) (‘the Act’) aims to protect vulnerable workers from exploitation and address inappropriate business practices through a mandatory licensing scheme for labour hire providers.

Parental leave – can I return to part time work?
Under the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act), employees have a statutory entitlement to return to work and to their previous position after taking a period of parental leave. If the employee’s previous position no longer exists, the employee is entitled to return to a position which is closest in pay and status to the employee’s previous position and to which the employee is most qualified and suited.
Marriage, divorce and your Will - What you need to know
About half of all Australians don’t have a valid Will. Of those who do, many put their Will away in the bottom drawer of their filing cabinet, or leave it with a solicitor, and never think of it again. But making a Will is not a once in a lifetime task. Rather, it’s something that needs to be reconsidered and perhaps re-done regularly, and certainly when major changes happen in your life. Marriage and divorce are two such major changes.

New year celebration event
More than 100 VIP guests joined GW recently at Mio Spazio in Cotton Tree for our annual client drinks.
