Life changing eggs

Last year, GW learned of a wonderful project that was hatched by the Compass Institute to supply farm fresh, free range eggs to the door for team members, whilst supporting a very worthy cause at the same time.

For just $5 a dozen, Compass deliver several dozen eggs to the office each week and our team members can’t get enough of the delicious tasting eggs.

Community engagement manager at the Compass Institute, Lisa Bathersby, says Compass is extremely committed to providing new ventures such as the Life Changing Eggs project for young adults with a disability.

“Our trainees care for and maintain the chicken shed at The Farm and learn about the husbandry of the chickens and the collection of free range eggs,” Lisa said.

“The trainees learn so much through this project and we’re so grateful to corporates such as GW for coming on board. Through purchasing the life changing eggs, they help continue this great enterprise.”

The Compass Farm is an award winning Social Enterprise located in Hunchy, five minutes’ drive from the town of Palmwoods. The Farm includes a number of distinct areas that enable people with disabilities to take up valued roles in their community. You will find Green Thumbs Nursery, market gardens, mixed orchards, animal husbandry areas, two wood workshops, a Harvest Kitchen and the Farm Art project. Many of the young people are supported to undertake relevant certificate level courses in areas such as horticulture, retail and hospitality.

Tours of Compass Farm are available to groups on request. It has played host to Council, Rotary, Probus, Freemasons and many other meetings alongside numerous corporate events.

Call 5445 9116 and ask for Lisa to arrange a tour. Or if you’re interested in sourcing the yummiest tasting eggs in town for your next omelette, find out more about the Life Changing Eggs project, go to www.compassinc.org.au/campuses/compass-farm/.
